THE ORGAN AT THE WHITGIFT CENTRE IN CROYDON
ABOUT JAMES
James is our open-access organ situated in Trinity Court, part of the Whitgift Shopping Centre in Croydon, South London.
James was built by Bedfordshire organ builder James Trustam in about 1880. We rescued it from a closed church in Cranfield, Bedfordshire in 2022 and relocated him here.
The move was generously sponsored by the London Mozart Players, who are based at the nearby Fairfield Halls.
He has one manual, [four] stops and a half-size pedalboard, which is permanently coupled to the [manual].
There is a blower controlled by a switch on a box to the right of the instrument.
James is in a courtyard very handy for the passage from the Centre leading directly to East Croydon station, which is an easy 10-minute walk away.
Enjoy playing James any time the centre is open. For details about centre opening times, see HERE.
