Welcome to friends and guests of Bompas & Parr! We are Pipe Up for Pipe Organs!
Every week, FOUR British pipe organs are scrapped and sent to landfill. Many more are mouldering away, neglected and silent.
We are a group of organ enthusiasts who came together in 2022 to stop the rot.
WHAT WE DO AT PIPE UP FOR PIPE ORGANS
With very limited funds, we:
-
Speak out for Britain's threatened heritage of pipe organs and their music
-
Rescue threatened organs and find them new homes
-
Train volunteers to care for organs
-
Bring organs for public use to places like London Bridge Station and the Whitgift Centre, Croydon
COULD YOU HELP US?
We need your help to:
-
Get thousands of Britain’s silent organs back into regular use
-
Recruit new generations of organ players
-
Get more organs into public spaces
-
Train more people to care for organs
-
Create a centre for the public to explore the full glory of organs and their music
-
Recruit more volunteers to rescue organs
WHAT A DONATION PAYS FOR
£50 pays for a training workshop for our volunteers, fixing real issues on an organ with playability issues
£150 pays for an introduction to organ playing at one of our public organs for up to five players
£250 buys a storage unit for a recovered organ
£600 gets a silent, “sleeping beauty” organ back into playable condition and regular use with a few days of expert help
£1,500 pays for a threatened organ to be rescued and safely stored while we find it a new home
£10,000 would enable us to get ALL the organs playable in a medium-sized town and find them regular players
£150,000 would buy us a redundant church or chapel to use as a centre where organs could be rebuilt, played and enjoyed
